I was raised
in a family of ministers. My father, both grandfathers and several
of my uncles were in the full-time ministry. As I was growing up
I was sure of one thing for my future, I did not want to be a Pastor.
God had
a bigger plan for me. When I was 16 years old, I received the call
of God on my life into the ministry. I began as a peer leader in
my youth group. Then, following my high school graduation, I was
given the opportunity to become a Sunday School teacher.
My father is the pastor at Living Water Worship Center in Rolla,
MO. He asked me to consider starting a youth ministry and becoming
the Youth Pastor for our congregation. After prayerful consideration,
I agreed. As I ministered to the youth in our church, my calling
became clear. I loved ministering the Gospel to people. A
few years ago I had the opportunity to change roles in our church
and become the Associate Pastor and Young Adult Pastor. While it
was difficult to leave the youth group, I saw the area of need and
growth in our church. My father and Pastor struggles with heart
problems and needed someone to lighten the load on him during church
services, so that he could have the energy necessary to preach.
He also needed someone to handle out of town visitation. I saw this
as an opportunity to serve directly under him and be mentored on
the art of being a pastor.
While
I have served in this position my assignment has become clear to
me...
